The 16th ZATI AGM and October News

The 16th ZATI AGM was a dynamic, interesting meeting which was enjoyed by those who attended meeting, the afternoon presentations and the cocktail party. The executive board and trustees would like to thank those that kindly sponsored the AGM the Park Hyatt Zanzibar for the conference space, Zanzibar Serena Hotel and QMB for the wonderful cocktail party and special tasting menu and finally to Vodacom for the delicious lunch.

The Hon. Minister of Tourism opened the AGM and later the Deputy Minister of Education (ZATI trustee and member) spoke, both made inspiring and realistic speeches.

Thank you to the outgoing Executive Board members, Jacob Moywaywa (Breezes),
Nassor el Mahrouky (Mnarani Beach Cottages), Khamis Rashid (Colors of Zanzibar) who all were exemplary in their contributions to ZATI.

Welcome to the incoming Executive Board members Nicolas Cedro, GM of Park Hyatt Zanzibar; Sunny Haroun, GM of Hotel Verde and Michael Murphy, GM of Zuri. We look forward to receiving you at the next board meeting. Jacob Moywaywa has now been voted in as an Honorary member and AbdulSamad Said (previous Honary member and Chairman) is a new trustee along with current trustees Simai Mohamed Said (Mercurys Restaurant) and Tonino Garou (Coastal Aviation)

The first ever Zanzibar Visual Arts Festival was a huge success and we look forward to the second edition in 2020.Congratulations to ZATI member Panga Chumvi Beach Resort co-owner, Rebecca for making the time to create and work on this innovative festival. Other members who sponsored in a variety of ways include the Emerson Brand, Scanza, QMB, Zanzibar Palace Hotel, Princess Salme Inn and Jafferji House and Spa. The Stone Town Food Festival was cancelled but is expected to be held in December, the organisers did create an art, fashion and food extravaganza for the arts festival.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday at the launch of the government English Language newspaper at the Ministry of Tourism, Kikwajuni, Stonetown.
